How IGNOU 30% assignment and 70% TEE marks add up

For a typical undergraduate theory course the Tutor Marked Assignment is 30% of the course and the term-end exam is 70%. If the assignment is out of 100 and the TEE is out of 100, the course total is (assignment × 0.3) + (TEE × 0.7).

Example: assignment 80, TEE 42. Course total = 24 + 29.4 = 53.4%. That looks like a pass overall. Many programmes still require 40% in the TEE alone. 42 clears that floor. 35 would not, even with a perfect assignment.

Practicals, labs, project courses, and a few professional programmes use other weights. MCA project, BCA practical, and nursing skills courses are not TMA-plus-TEE in the same ratio. The programme guide — not a Telegram graphic — is the source.

Letter grades on older cards (A, B, C) are bands, not exact percentages. Convert them with the percentage calculator only as a range.

The TEE result list is theory for that session. The grade card is the course as a whole. An assignment column that is blank keeps the course incomplete even after you sat the paper.

That is why assignment status is not a separate tracker. You are reading the same grade card. If the assignment never arrived, start with the enrolment number on the cover and the stamped receipt — not with a third-party “marks unlock” site.

Treat 40 in the TEE as the floor you cannot negotiate, then use the assignment as the cushion. An 80 on the TMA is worth 24 course points. That helps a 45 in the exam. It does not turn a 28 into a pass on programmes that enforce the TEE minimum.
