IGNOU grade calculator

Enter your assignment and term-end marks. The calculator applies the usual 30/70 split and flags whether that would clear the common 40% rule.

Uses the usual 30% assignment / 70% exam split. Change the maxima if your paper is out of 50 or 70.

How the 30/70 split works

For most IGNOU theory courses the Tutor Marked Assignment is 30% of the course and the term-end exam is 70%. If you scored 72 out of 100 on the assignment and 48 out of 100 in the exam, the course total is (72 × 0.3) + (48 × 0.7) = 55.2%.

Many programmes also require 40% in the term-end exam as well as 40% overall. Scoring well on the assignment cannot rescue a TEE mark below that floor. Check your programme guide — practicals, projects and a few professional programmes use different weights.

What counts as a pass

Frequently asked questions

Are assignments always 30% of the course?
For most theory courses, yes. Projects, practicals and a few professional programmes use a different split. Check the evaluation scheme printed in your programme guide.
Can a high assignment mark pass the course if the exam is low?
Usually no. Many programmes require a minimum in the term-end exam as well as in the overall total. A strong assignment cannot cover a TEE score below that floor.
Are my marks uploaded anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
