IGNOU project and synopsis format

There is no one university-wide synopsis template. Your school’s project handbook is the format. A generic “IGNOU synopsis PDF” from Telegram is how proposals get bounced.

There is no single official cover for every programme

MCA, MBA, MAPC, MSW, BCA project, and a BAG internship do not share one title page. Each school publishes a project / internship handbook (or a circular) with the exact sequence of sheets, the word band, and whether a supervisor’s signature is needed before you write a word.

  1. Step 1: Download the handbook for your programme code

    Search ignou.ac.in and eGyankosh for MCA_NEW project, MBAPG synopsis, MAPC project — the code you are enrolled in, not a cousin programme.

  2. Step 2: Use the sample title page in that PDF if it has one

    If the handbook shows a specimen cover, copy that layout. Do not replace it with a colourful “university” template from a print shop.

  3. Step 3: Get the supervisor on paper first when the handbook says so

    Many programmes will not look at a synopsis until a guide has signed the proposal. Typing a fake name is misconduct.

Fields that still show up on almost every cover

Even when layouts differ, evaluators still need to file the bundle. These identifiers belong on the first sheet unless your handbook forbids one of them.

Why synopses get sent back

  • The topic is a photocopy of last year’s approved list with one noun changed.
  • The methodology chapter is AI filler with no instrument, sample, or data source.
  • Plagiarism from a “ready-made IGNOU project” seller. Schools do run similarity checks.
  • Submission to the wrong office — school versus regional centre versus online portal — against that year’s circular.
  • Missing supervisor signature, or a signature that does not match the approved guide.

Write the synopsis in the language the handbook names. A Hindi proposal for an English-only course code is an easy bounce.

After approval

Keep the approval letter or portal screenshot. The bound project must match the approved title. Changing the title halfway because a blog said “SEO topics score higher” is how you write two projects.

The TMA cover is a different sheet

For ordinary tutor-marked assignments, use the assignment front page — not a synopsis layout.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a ready-made IGNOU project?
You can buy paper. You cannot honestly submit it. Purchased projects are a standard reason for rejection and can go further than a bounce.
Is the synopsis the same as the project report?
No. The synopsis is the proposal. The project is the finished work after approval. Many programmes will not accept the report without a prior approved synopsis.
Who is my supervisor?
The person your study centre or school allots, as the handbook describes. A relative with a PhD is not a supervisor unless that office has approved them.
