IGNOU admission
Fresh admission is how you get an enrolment number. Re-registration is how you keep it. Using the wrong portal is the most common first-week mistake.

Admission is not re-registration

- Fresh admission
- You do not have an IGNOU enrolment number yet, or you are starting a different programme. Use the admission portal named on ignou.ac.in — recently ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
- Re-registration
- You already have an enrolment number for this programme. Next semester’s courses go through onlinerr.ignou.ac.in.
If a “counsellor” fills admission for you and keeps the password, they control the enrolment. Do the form yourself.
What to keep ready
- A passport-style photo and a scanned signature on white paper. Both must match what you will use on assignments later.
- The qualifying certificate listed in that programme’s eligibility (class 12, bachelor’s, or the specific degree the prospectus names).
- Category certificate if you are claiming a fee concession. Unsigned affidavits bounce.
- A working mobile number. Study centre messages and OTPs go there.
When the enrolment number arrives
Payment success is not the enrolment number. The number appears after the university confirms the application — often days later, sometimes longer in a rush window. You cannot fill an assignment cover page with the application ID.
- Check the same Samarth account you used to pay.
- The ID card and study-centre allotment follow the enrolment number, not the other way around.
- If the status sits on “pending document” , re-upload the rejected file. Emailing a coordinator does not replace the portal flag.
Then download the ID card
The digital card is what you print until the plastic one arrives.

Download the assignment question papers for your first session from ignou.ac.in. Do not wait for printed blocks. The assignment last date does not wait for the courier.
Get the blocks while you wait
eGyankosh has the PDFs. The TMA is a separate download.
